Hi all, I will be visiting a friends that own a farm on the banks of the vaal near Parys. Does anyone now if there are bass in those waters, I've heard from people that there are allot of yellow fish in that area, so I am also going to pack the fly rod.
dude i heard that the vaal has some nice bass and yellows so pack yer plastics mate
I know there are allot of bass above the barrage, but the eara we are going to visit is below the barrage and I do not know too much about the fishing in that area
Most of the river around Parys is shallow with rapids, perfect for yellows. Don't think it will be very cool for bass.
there is bass below the barrage but they tend to hang around in the pools and ambush the bait that enter the pool from the rapids, but there was not alot when i was over there,so i would say give it a try
I am not sure of the success rate of catching bass in and around Parys. Another option besides targeting the yellows is to fish baby flukes or spinnerbaits for barbel. It may not be glam. but little else beats fighing barbel on light spinning tackle. Guys also have success on small floating crankies but they tend to get hooked up regularily.
Tight lines.
