Has anybody fished Shongweni recently?

Am plotting a tubing mission for sunday, and was looking at Shongweni as an option.

Anybody?

Baardbek was there last weekend but he said it was raining all the time maybe he could help.

i know weekend paced. how was ur trip to shongweni . if u went?
i fish there often. BUT hazelmere always better , ignore the jet skies ,go up the river inlet.
was there this weekend . got a 2.7m tender with sneeker on .
me an my lady got over 36 bass on fly and plastics
water was 29 deg. fished all day , but most productive between 5 - 6.30 am and pm GOOD
camping is only R90 with hot water elec and safe
there were a few float tubes there also very successful ( one VERY unfriendly ass)
shongweni needs patients . alot barbel

They say better late than never.Three of us went to Shongs .Friday caught 2 dinks in front of tented camp. Fished most of Saturday in intermittand rain. Only sucsess +/- 1600hr at smaller cliffs 1 kg + on Zoom 8 inch D- ringer Pumkinseed chatreuse small splitshot 20 cm up line bonced of clifface .Sunday up riverstreatch opposite tented camp 8 7 dinks 1 x1kg + same rig 4 inch junebug d-ringer. Sunday 10 friend caught 1.5 kg with weightles plastic bounced of reed right opposite our tented camp Weekend was BG and i did about 15 km on PISCES PREDATOR with 28 lb thrust sneaker 55 ah battery . fishfinder still registered 11.8volt stationary and 9.8volt under full load 5th speed

a group from the kickboat fishing website had a social there on sunday morning...i didnt make it unfortunatley...been tooo busy at work.

they fished until 9 am then had breakfast...a social...then went back out for a couple hours...then back for lunch...i hear fishing was slow but a good social.

the guys are getting into light tackle fishing for talapia....which is becoming very popular.

Roger that crankystanley, I saw the lads on their kick boats, fishing was slow, and nothing of interest came up for me except a little night adder that joined me on my V boat...

Next mission is probably to Alberts...or the farm dam in Mid Illovo I recently got access too.


I Have a week of leave coming up middle of march so will be spending some time in and on the water...
