The "boss" and me were up at 4 on Saturday morning, hitched the boat and got to TWK by 6. After the formalities we were off; a mass start of 6 boats saw most of us roaring in the direction of the bridge. Mass starts might be considered dangerous by some, but damn are they fun!
Got to the first spot and were greeted by this great view:
A little later I flipped a junebug/plum creature bait under a laydown, had a tap and set the hook on a good fish that politely wrapped me around its home. 15lb Seaguar Invizx to the rescue! While I was busy doing gymnastics on the back deck my wife managed to work out how to reverse the trolling motor. A couple of fraught seconds later we had a 2kg (OK, a few grams less than 2kg, call it 1.95kg) bass in the livewell.
Feeling a bit better about life with a 2kg fatty in the boat at 07h45 I ventured down the bank.
We moved into some flooded timber so I switched to a squarebill crankbait and started bumping it into stuff. WHAM! Somebody knocks hard and I'm onto what immediately feels like a bigger fish. It then occurs to me that this fish read the same script as the last one except there's no wood close enough so she wraps me around my outboard. Kate bolts to the trolling motor while I assume my (now) normal spot on the back deck waving my arms in the air.
The following conversation really happened:
Toadee: "Move the boat forward, the line's caught in the f$#%-ing prop"
Kate: "OK OK"
Toadee: "Dammit!!!"
...
a few seconds pass
...
Toadee: "OK, its off"
Kate: "F@$%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Toadee: NO! It's off the PROP!!!! Get the net."
Kate jumps to the back, picks up the net and scoops my new PB of 3.33kg into the boat. My legs didn't work for a good 15 minutes and I was smiling like a fool. So was Kate.
Seaguar 12lb Invizx this time; and not a mark on it. Super stuff.
I fished for another 1/2hr but really wanted to get the fish weighed so that I could avoid stressing it as much as possible. We raced back to meet Shane at the club and banked 5.3kg by 09h25.
Shane has a few more photogenic pics of the fish; sorry there's no helping me!
The rest of the day was interrupted by a few small non-weighers so we ended up with just the two fish and third place. As you can imagine I was quite satisfied with that.
Thanks to Shane for the great comp and the rest of the motley crew. See you at Clan; no excuses!

Very well done!
Looks like TWK produced more and better fish than clan did.
Went this weekend...crap...all small fish. The bite will hopefully pick up.
Looks like I'm going to be fishing TWK more often.

Congrats on the new PB Toadee. I had the privilege of fishing with Misha again.
As we hit our second spot just behind Eagle Island my trolling motor decided it had seen enough water for one day and went to sleep. Not much fan after that. Sad part is that we witnessed hundreds of carp surfacing in the area.
After floating through a few areas by carefully using the wind I managed to put 2 dinks on the boat that was almost as large as the X-rap they fiercely attacked. More evidence of a descent spawn recently.
Just to put the cherry on top on the run back just past Billy and Branden we hit a unmarked shallow patch in the middle of nowhere and destroyed the prop on my motor. That was it and with an hour to go we then decided to join Shane and the launch...
Apart from the bad luck we had awesome weather and congrats to the winners. From memory:
1. James & BWV (over 7kg with 3 fish)
2. Billy and Brandin (Team Outdoors 365)
3. Mr and Mrs Todee (over 5kg with 2 fish)
4. Nutt and Dcfi (only 5 fish bag which included a smallie! - nice to see Nutt coming our of retirement)
5. Peter and partner
As usual also a big thanks to Shane for organising the event as well as all the sponsors. Last one of the season is at Clan. Shane mentioned that the date has changed due to clash with the a juniors event so please take note of the new date on the site.
