Wriggleswade Dam is located about 20 km outside Stutterheim and 75 km inland from East London. Wriggleswade is relatively deep, windiing its way about 15 km through lush green farmlands with steep hills on each side. Several large bays branch off and 2 rivers discharge into the lake.
STRUCTURE
The lake is home to some BIG bass, Florida strain largemouth bass are predominant with a small number of spotted bass being caught occasionaly. The current lake record stands at 4.3 kg (9 1/2 lbs). The lake is clear and deep with plenty of structure of all kinds including standing trees, lilly pads and grass beds.
COMPETITION VENUE
Wriggleswade is the venue of the annual Amatola Bass Classic held in February each year and hosted by the local bass club.

Bank Fishing Potential |
Limited to the area around the camp site as most of the dam is surrounded by private land. The 10 metre or so wide bed of water grass that surrounds much of the dam makes life difficult for bank anglers, a float tube or canoe would allow you to get outside the grass. The area towards the water tower to the right of the camp site is relatively clear of grass and has some standing timber within casting distance of the shore. |
