Nandoni Dam

Nandoni Dam lies just outside of Thohoyandou in Limpopo Province. The dam was completed in 2004 and already has a healthy population of big largemouth bass. It has absolutely great structure in the form of trees, sunken houses etc, which makes for some awesome fishing.

The dam is fed by the Levhubu and the greater Lethaba rivers and was built to provide water to Makhado (Louis Trichardt), Thohoyandou and the rural communities in the northern part of the Limpopo province.

The dam is surrounded by the Nandoni Game Park, Resort and Golf Estate which offers a number of activities and facilities, it is also only around 50 km from the Kruger Park, making it possible to get in some game viewing as well as bassing. It has great fishing potential with bass of well over 2KG already being caught. The abundant trees, while offering plentiful structure for bass mean that heavy lines are the order of the day.

Sadly there appears to be a problem with locals using gill nets at night. It would be a pity of authorities don't clamp down on illegal fishing as this dam has tremendous potential, despite it's being somewhat remote.
