Thank for the advice guys.
I wanted to take my boat out for a test drive (just had it serviced) and could not wait any longer to go and buy a reel. I decided to go big or go home and bought a Chronarch 100.... I hope the bank manger will enjoy my (his) reel... :blue-badgrin:
The funny thing was that I tried my hand at pitching and had the mother of all back lashes .... :blue-smile: ..had to get a scissor to cut all the line off. Luckily no one saw me. :blue-lol: ....
like with all things I realise that practise makes perfect....seems I still need a lot. However I'm still looking for a volunteer to help me. Anyone in East rand / Vaal triangle prepared to help??

now that you purchased a decent reel i can give you some advice...push at least 4 of the six brakes out and tightnen the spool drag a little more than needed for when you are practising...especially pitching...and every 5 casts or so cast a normal cast just to get the slack out the spool...if you are pitching with flu. carbon line good luck i still havent got it right...rather use it as a leader...in clean water make the leader longer (about 500mm or longer depending on the length of the rod) and dirty water it not that critical you can have a short leader...just becareful of pitching the fish tend to run under the boat.
by the way sean the only reason KVD uses quantium is because he gets them for free...i bet you his personal reels are are shimanos...its like moto guide trolling motors everyone thinks because they are used in the big comps they are the best i would tend to disagree... they have a crew on hand to fiix them during the comps ...i havent heard any good feed back about them...i would rather stick to min kota...just my personal opinion.

Hmmm the Bassfishing contingent from the EAST is growing .... We gonna have to arrange a meet and fish at Nigel dam some day soon :blue-biggrin:

You just have to name a day and we will do some big bassing on Nigel dam.. Great place to fish during the spawn and summer months.
