Fishing spots and equipment - Skippy - 07-03-2019 Hi everyone I think the word newbie is even too advanced for me, I've been fishing a few times but caught my first fish exactly a week today and now I'm hooked (excuse the pun). I quite enjoy bass fishing though and would like to do it more often but money is a little tight so I want to start with some cheap equipment until I maybe have some extra cash to buy better stuff. So 3 questions: 1. I know this is asked multiple times on the forum but maybe someone has discovered a new spot they're willing to share. I live in Brackenfell and I am looking for good bass fishing spots near brackenfell if anyone has suggestions. I was very sad to find out today that Fisher Haven just off Bottelary road no longer allows fishing, because that would have been perfect. 2. If I have a very limited number of lures, say 4 different ones at first, what would you suggest I get first or what works best? 3. If you have some extra rods or lures or fishing gear at home you're not using but don't want an arm and a leg for, please PM me with the gear and how much you want for it so that I can start fishing soon : ![]() If you have any other tips or tricks or favorite places to buy gear, you can send that to me too please. Thanks in advance RE: Fishing spots and equipment - Jim_From_Zim - 07-04-2019 Welcome Skippy I'll post you some info here when I'm back at my pc. Tad difficult to keep the world turning from my mobile RE: Fishing spots and equipment - Skippy - 07-04-2019 Thanks Jim_from_Zim, that would be greatly appreciated. And yes I agree with the mobile. Very convenient, but not made to do everything.
RE: Fishing spots and equipment - Jim_From_Zim - 07-05-2019 So 3 questions: 1. I know this is asked multiple times on the forum but maybe someone has discovered a new spot they're willing to share. I was very sad to find out today that Fisher Haven just off Bottelary road no longer allows fishing, because that would have been perfect. This is going to be a rather difficult question to answer directly as most guys in the cape keep their spots as a closely guarded secret. But, do some research on this forum and you'll find a few places that you can bank bash. Also, save some bucks for a float tube and join the kickboat league - its great fun and you'll get to fish some magic waters. 2. If I have a very limited number of lures, say 4 different ones at first, what would you suggest I get first or what works best? The saying goes: "if in doubt, put a fluke out". Personally I would rather invest inn 5inch senko's instead. Get some green pumpkin colours and watermelon colours, and 1 pack of straight black. You can throw these in just about any configuration and dam/pond and you'll catch. Speaking of configurations, rather try get knowledge on rod set ups and line. This will be more important than actual bait. Youtube is a good place to see different set ups. 3. If you have some extra rods or lures or fishing gear at home you're not using but don't want an arm and a leg for, please PM me with the gear and how much you want for it so that I can start fishing soon Troll the bass junkie site on farcebook, there are usually good deals there. But do yourself a favour and get close to the tackle shops - they give way better service than a private deal.
