Ive heard shimano has a new agent in SA, does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

If so who is the new agent. 

I'm trying to find out what the new rods that are coming in will be. Zodias? intenza? exprite? I have curados but have seen that they are being discontinued in the states.

I think the word newbie is even too advanced for me, I've been fishing a few times but caught my first fish exactly a week today and now I'm hooked (excuse the pun). I quite enjoy bass fishing though and would like to do it more often but money is a little tight so I want to start with some cheap equipment until I maybe have some extra cash to buy better stuff.

So 3 questions:
1. I know this is asked multiple times on the forum but maybe someone has discovered a new spot they're willing to share. I live in Brackenfell and I am looking for good bass fishing spots near brackenfell if anyone has suggestions. I was very sad to find out today that Fisher Haven just off Bottelary road no longer allows fishing, because that would have been perfect. 

2. If I have a very limited number of lures, say 4 different ones at first, what would you suggest I get first or what works best? 

3. If you have some extra rods or lures or fishing gear at home you're not using but don't want an arm and a leg for, please PM me with the gear and how much you want for it so that I can start fishing soon :

Here's some basic tips to set up your rigs: 

Drop shot: 

  drop shot.jpg (Size: 64.17 KB / Downloads: 3)
Pic 1: small round hook with paloma knot and long tag end
Pic 2: Send the tag end back through the eye
Pic 3: Add the weight. Tag end about 200mm or 150mm
Pic 4: Reverse nose hook the plastic. Note: This rig is a finesse rig, so small junior size plastics work best, like Jnr fluke or a small paddle tail fluke, G30's etc.
I use this for finesse applications, rocky points, off shore rocks etc. I never throw it into tree's or reeds - although some guys do with a lot of success. I just dont like getting an exposed hook set into timber. 

Carolina rig:

As can be seen, the swivel prevents the weight from moving down the line. Typically we pop a small glass bead between the swivel and weight to give a knocking sound when you jiggle it over rocks etc down in the deep. Best plastics to use here are stretch 40's, G40's or fat albert grubs.
I use this set up when fishing deep water on off shore structure like rocks or sand humps.
A heavy weight is usually used in this set up, like a 1 oz ball weight. 

Mojo rig:

This is a typical mojo rig with the thin weight. You can use a bullet weight (like a texas rig would use) but still use the 2 gummie stoppers to peg the weight. In clean water, move the weight further from the hook, in dirty water, move it closer to the hook. When you want to make it a texas, simply slide the weights and gummies down to the hook. 
I use this rig for open water tree's, jetties, docks, retaining walls, grass lines, shallower rocky points etc (kind of my go to rig for just about any situation). 
I typically use senko's (all sizes), flukes (all sizes), G40's, Stretch 40's, creature baits etc. 
Weights are 1/8 oz or 3/16 oz

Texas rig:

I'm brand new here and would like to pick up on some Bass fishing again, its been about 5 years since I last caught.

I am planning a weekend away on the 12th of this month to Rust De Winter with the wife and kids and need some advice please.

1 - Is Rust De Winter still open to weekend fishing and camping?
2 - Are Bass still biting this time of the year - considering that Rust De Winter is about 5 degrees higher than Pretoria?
3 - What would you consider the right lures to use, I still use flukes, horny tods and a few others.

I have this little irritation that is slowing me down right now, but I suppose that work is a necessary evil, and I need to cover fuel costs somehow. Anyway, the internet is faster here and research is possible during short breaks.

Looking at the different setups is interesting.
I find that the difference between the Texas and Carolina rigs is the difference that the bullet sinker is away from the actual hook. Now using gummies, could you make a basic rig then just move the sinker to adapt to the conditions?
Or is it better to have a fixed Texas rig and an adjustable Carolina.

Then the first question that I should have asked is why you guys don't use a clip swivel to connect your lures. Would that not allow for a quick change of lures?
That would also prevent line twist. (Plus I have a few of them for bank angling)

Looking at  the drop shot rig. Could I once again consider a gummie to position the hook, or is the hook in a fixed position?

The wackey rig is pretty simple but you probably need to know when to use it as can only see it being used with a stationary line and not trawling at all, but what do I know?

I need a quick knot to tie my lures as I am limited to two rods for now and may need to tie a couple of knots.

I have a couple of the Rapala type hard lures, a few frogs and a few bags of the soft type lures.
I think that I have the basic flukes in pumpkin and in dark blue
I have craw in pumpkin and blue (Stolen with my eyes as I see every boat has at least 1 rod with craw on)
I keep a few No.3 wide gap hooks
I have gummies 
Funny thing is that I have all the funny shaped bugs, dragonflies, crabs and crickets (Because my wife likes them and buys all the funnies that she sees in the shops.
I will be changing my line soon as I am sure that the bright red gut with the bass sticker on the reel is just too bright. I will be looking for a clear mono filament.

Where to shop for bass fishing.
At present I have Jardines in Meyerton.
Sollies in Vereeniging and Vanderbyle
Varswater in Vanderbyle
and
Timols in Nigel.
Am I missing a shop.
Not in to internet purchasing yet as I still need to get over the trust issues. (And the wife won't give me the credit card)

Just recently bought a second hand bass boat. Crackleback 500 with 175hp suzuki 4 stroke. Question is that the boat really stuggles to get going. Might be that the prop is set for 1 person??? We have gone twice with 4 adults. Any suggestions wrt prop size??

Secondly, we fish vaal river and really really stuggle. We have caught 1 tiny bass. Any tips or tricks or suggestions for the vaal - close to the barrage side - would be greatly appreciated.

Im quite new to bass fishing i recently bought a couple of second hand rods from a guy and went to the Midlands a few weeks ago and caught some bass. Basically i'm hooked!.. *du dum tsss*

So now i have about R2400 to spend on a decent rod and reel compared to my ELBE and Okuma setup.

What do you guys recommend? Im keen to try a baitcaster,but i know nothing of adjusting it so i dnt get a ''Birds Nest". So either baitcaster or spinning setups.]]>
