Just want to say a big thank you to John (aka Breedesmallie) for bringing back a rod and 2 reels for me from the States.

He lost his last Heddon Mouse a while so I made him a little something to play 'fetch' with his smallies.

Dude. I just discovered your Facebook page and Youtube channel. I'm kind of blown away. :eusa_clap: Your lures look fantastic and they swim great. That video of you catching big bass after big bass out of that bush on swimbaits is just a pleasure to watch. South African bass anglers haven't caught on to swimbaits yet and that's kind of cool. More for us who do throw big baits. But they will catch on and I hope your lures do too, they deserve to. Congrats on selling them in the USA. I will contact you at some stage regarding pricing because I would love to throw one of those.

P.S. The rat packaging is very cool!

Thanks bud. Just started proper Swimbaiting and loving it. Got some great fish this year, including my PB of 3.45kg

Lure making is just a hobby but taken off a bit. They take ages to make so never going to give up the day job.

Had fun with the packaging. Check out this one for my 180cm glide bait - the Undertaker <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.bassfishing.co.za/resources/undertaker.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bassfishing.co.za/resources/undertaker.jpg</a><!-- m -->

Got some "hate mail" for daring to make a 'rat' in South Africa as a big company has them in stock.
So just for the record, it's a tiny mouse. It's not jointed and is made from wood as a once-off copy in homage of the Heddon Mouse (which they don't make and you can't get any more). Made as a gift for a friend because he lost his original.

People using social media are far to quick to take offence. I phoned the "hater" (lol), we had a good chat and sorted it out.

Now days we forget the phone can be used to talk and its so much easier to get the proper story in a 1 minute chat than a full on raging cyber war.

You Dirty Rat! How dare you copy the meadow mouse, I mean rat, I mean... Wink

Bud, you made it with your two hands and it catches fish! How many rattletraps look 98% the same; yet its that 2% that makes all the difference! If you took the best ideas of several lures and combined it, good on yeah for the innovative idea and making it work. Well done, its awesome to see a passion of yours grow into a product which a lot of people will pay good money for! Don't Stop! :eusa_clap:

Someone is going to poop their pants when they see all the Chinese knock-off "Splo BZZ1 Rattz" at Somerset Sports.

All this excitement made me research other mice/rat/squirrel swimbait offerings.

I'm quite intrigued by the simple design of the MS Mini Slammer. Perhaps I should commission a similar design OR give it a go myself.

Are we at the start of a South African swimbait cottage industry? Soon there'll be a bunch of guys arguing about what colour red is better for gill markings. Insignia red of course!

Thanks for the love guys.
Rip: I'm just using pine.
Toadee: The MS Slammer and Pats are awesome baits and have a cult following in the States. You'd be lucky to get change for R1000 on a 2nd hand Slammer and 2nd hand Pats are all sold for "make me an offer".
The MS Mini is great but don't be shy about using the 7". I have made myself a similar bait but not really fished it yet.
