Boat Lunches

Energy bars, biltong, nuts, frozen bottles of water, a coke and a sarmie..

The frozen water is perfect for keeping everything nice and cool in my small coolerbag and even better smashing a ice cold water and the end of the day. Nothing irks me more than drinking luke warm water...

and offcourse Ice cold beers at the end of the mission

I have started to remove sugary items from my boat lunch as I find that preventing the sugar highs and lows keeps one motivated to fish longer and harder on a tough day.

Droëwors is a firm favourite as it is quick and easy to eat while fishing.

Apple and I normally stop at Mackies in Hillcrest to grab a Mc Muffin Sausage Breakie Meal which we chow whilst Shosholoza'ng down the long windy hill to Inanda so there is normally not much of a lunch pack on the boat, other than some cold refreshments and billies.

If I want to get 60km/h out of the old faithful 85 Yammie on the back my Bass Mobile then I normally restricted the refreshments to 6 each, weight plays a big role ..... :blue-biggrin:

Haha Neels, weight is important yes for us okes with minimum powerhouses!

The beers on the boat issue is important, yes. Many moons back as a young oke we always carried them and ice cold for "hydraulic sandwiches" as food but more than 10 yrs ago I banned them on my boat when I started fishing with my and other peoples kids from the 3 - 10 yr age classes. Even my boys have a beer or few with me now once we are off the water but there is a time and place for everything and sometimes it's not suitable. Sorry to be such a stick in the mud but if one is involved with junior angling, and especially other peoples kids, you have to set an example for the youngsters..........

Fully agree with Rip on this one. Learnt this from my uncle Bill who did a lot of deep see ski boat fishing out of Richards Bay. He always said "Alcolhol and sea water does not mix" and I have extended this to my bass fishing as well.
