Born a fisherman but havnt gone in a while because none of my friends like to fish. Finally convinced a friend to join on my fishing trips who btw had NEVER caught a fish before. With zero luck on 2 fishing sessions our chances were looking slim. 3rd time lucky. We waded through a section of the dam to get behind the reeds to a spot that looked quite promising, both of us fishing a spinnerbait and after 3 casts we both hooked into a fish at the same time, him landing a tilapia and me landing this bad boy at le bonheur croc farm and after those 2 fish i have now converted him to fishing, well worth the wait!!

Very nice fish, well done. I would say that Picasso price should be yours. Good luck. :blue-biggrin:
The more I learn about fishing the more I realise
how much more I have to learn about fishing.

A TRUE STORY EVENT

Now im just as dedicated as the next eager bass fisherman but I must take my beanie off to my fiance. My brother and I try go fishing every weekend at our slice of Eden bass dam we have the privalage of using. On this particular weekend my fiance Alicia was quite excited to join in on the adventure. Needless to say after a change in the weather report the day she had now chosen to come with not looking favourable at all. With a combination of stiff winds, rain, overcast conditions and the fact that I treat every fishing trip like a military operation leaving far to early in the morning even for been a farmer, Alicia was up and in the bakkie with us. Arriving at the dam and looking out over the water I thought as I always do that im in heaven, I could see on the other hand my fiance was not convinced. After setting up a small base camp, sheltered as possible, my brother and I fully kitted as if we were professionals, headed out to do the rounds. Alicia decided to stay at camp nursing her coffee while reconsidering her decision to have joined these mad men.. Having her own rod and setup she had quickly grabbed a few lures from the tackle box before we had run off. My brother and I fished up and round the banks, working all the usual hideouts. We used every lure we had but after hours still had only caught one small dink, which I reckon was by luck anyway. Across the dam we could see Alicia fishing now. She was just staying in the same spot, casting over and over again working this small corner of submerged timber near our base camp. Hungry, wet and slightly fed up we trudged back along the bank heading towards our shelter. "BAM!!" the water in front of Alicia exploded with a bass clearing the water and shaking its large mouth before falling back into the water. I think the pure thrill of excitement had taken over her with the rod bent and her reeling in as if her life depended on it. That bass never stood a chance. We were still quite some distance away and began running to her to assist. A bass can be a slippery customer to handle and unhook carefully. No, not for this woman. By the time we had got there she had unhooked the bass gently and was successfully holding this beautiful fish by its mouth grinning from ear to ear. After taking a photo, weighing and measuring her catch tipped the scale at just under half a kilo at a length of 36cm. What made this is even more amazing, , besides the fact she had braved all the elements on a Saturday her day off from been a teacher, was that she had used a large cheapy crankbait that I had never caught on along with having taught herself how to use it correctly. She caught 3 more that day with my brother and I ending off with just that one little guy between us. Hats and beanies off to you Alicia, well done...

Lekka story EarlyWorm. Keep this coming. I too have a daughter that teaches the men how to catch bass every time she goes out...

...she reckons bass fishing is easy...and really cannot understand why we sometimes battle so much :blue-lol:
