Since fishing at kwaggas I have noticed that the smallies there has elongated dorsal and anal fins, pointing back towards the tail. The kwaggas smallies is the only once where I have noticed this difference, and must say that about 80% of the smallies I catch in kwaggas has this.
Does anybody know why this variation/maybe even mutation would be, and why it is not seen often if ever in other waters??

Some pics to show what I mean.

Look at the kwaggas pics, they all have sharp pointy anal and dorsal fins, while the other dams' smallies have round fins.

All i can say is that clan has the most beautifull fish.

I heard that a sharper fin is for speed.

Look at smallies tail fins, against largies tail fins.
smallies has sharper tails then largies??????

The only reason I might think of is that the smallies in Clan and Bullshoek have more water flow to fight against as they are in a river system? besides that I have no idea? Maybe the kwaggas ones have pimped their fins cause they live close to CT?? Hahahahaha... :blue-smile:

I think there is much less cover(tree stumps reeds and rocks) in kwaggas and the fin's of the smallies there dont grind as much, combine that with BM's theory of water flow it makes sense that the river sistem fish get more "touch / grinding" on their fins cause the have to duck into gaps etc to get out current. - i think its their natural shape to have fins pointing to the back.

but thats totally a theory which is probably bull anyway :blue-question: :blue-question:
