I am visiting my parents and hometown (Port Elizabeth) for two weeks during last week in June to the last week in July. I want to take my old man bass fishing for a few days. I have in mind to camp at the dam for two or three days.

Can this be done? Where is the best place to camp at the dam? Is there someone I can contact to get more details?

there is no overnight camping at Elandsjacht, but there is a 2 bedroom rondavel near the entrance gate that is operated by Eastern Cape Bass Assoc, and they may have a key.
on arrival at the main gate from the Oyster Bay/Humansdorp road (heavy bad gravel) you will need to deposit R20 for a gate key for a day's fishing.

My advice is rather stay here and fish both waters with Elands being a day trip:

Contact Mark Gibson from Eastern Province on 0eight3two81788three for more info on both. There isn't really any accomodation at Elands itself but it might be worthwhile a day trip.

If you have a small boat which you can carry down a bank then you could fish Loerie dam which is about 70km out of PE.

You could then camp at the Gamtos camping grounds next to the gamtos river.

Or you could travel in and out each day.
