Pre Fishing KBT

I have an idea let the organisers hand over the responsibilities to those that keep complaining. Clearly its felt that the KBT dont meet some of your high standards and the wealth of experience shared amongst you in organising these events blows my mind.Then deal with the constant complaining when something was not done the way a specific angler wanted it. Look after accommodation for everyone try and keep everyone happy constantly spoon feed anglers try organise sponsorship the list goes on.

To be honest ill gladly hand over to one of you to deal with all of the above and more, then sit back and constantly bitch at you while I enjoy my fishing again

Ok Roy, if I had the time I'd gladly run it for free. But I don't. No one is complaining with the effort you put in for accommodation etc. That is a great job you are doing.

Now as the organiser, would it not be better to pull said offender aside and either warn them in private, dq them in private, or simply pull them aside and reiterate the rules to them in private? Ranting at the person or about the person in view of all is not the way to resolve things. I suspect in this case this is how it did not happen as I'm suggesting.

I sincerely hope that at an event that I attend and if I should transgress the rules that it will be kept in private. Failing that my moer meter will red line instantly and my actions won't be that of a normal person.

The point is: people are asking for a clearer understanding of the rules and not asking for an organiser of the kbt to get dik lip and refuse to even listen. They are clearly asking for a proper reply with regards to rules, rulings and how it's handled.

Martin you clearly seem to have enough time for a lot of things especially clearing your throat about the KBT something you not even involved in.

If you want to be so verbal about the KBT why not join us for a change. I'm sure there are a few guys that will be thrilled to see you and Holland's finest.

We are all grown ups here with working brains if you don't know something just ask its well known that culling at the weigh station is not allowed its been that way from the beginning and has been mentioned on numerous occasions.

Is it not the responsibility of every angler to know the rules before he enters a competition? And if you not sure ask, I cannot pull every person aside and treat them like naughty school children .I'm a bass fisherman not a school teacher the rules have been there for many seasons but yet folks complain afterwards when they were spoken to about transgressing the laws.

Concerning yourself hitting red lines and having abnormal actions I reserve my comment but its rather funny and a bit like a school child so don't worry I will take you one side talk to you nicely and let you have your tantrum should it be at a KBT, would you like me to give you a good spanking too?

Oh I'm listening and I'm far from dik lip about anything the rules will be updated and rules are rules.

Lets hope people actually do the effort to read them this time.

Its funny how people start reading the rules once there is a dispute but never said a word in all the seasons prior to this one.

Now getting to the point that started all of this "Pre Fishing"

One of the anglers in question got invited long before we even changed the venue and he in turn invited the second angler in question once again long before we made the change

Whether we fished the venue or not they would have fished it anyway it just happened that we had a KBT there the following weekend.

Roy: go read my comment and re read your initial comment. I think it's quite clear that you obviously don't remember what you wrote or you can't seem to understand what other people have written.

It's not whether I am in or out this season, but whether or not I choose to compete in the future if time allows. Start to smell the roses please.

And to continue, if you did lot see the point of my comment that ranting is not going to get you anywhere in trying to enforce a rule, and your futile comment is to provide me with a spanking then i might just take you up on your offer, enter a kbt and use the rules you have posted and declared to my advantage. Then when you try enforce your big trap on me and how you don't like what I have done in front of all to see, I shall personally hand out that whipping you would probably deserve. Don't bleat at a comp or here about how to enforce, one day it will bite you hard. This is not a shallow comment from me either. I tend to do what I say.

Now if you also go on about listening to what is being said, you will realise that my previous comment is exactly what you are trying to avoid yet saying you are listening. Clearly you don't listen and only invoke a closed response that your word is final. Please pal, get real.

I post these comments because I don't do it for me, I do it for the love of the game so that everyone can benefit. Open your ears and eyes to what's going on around you, hear what people want in the rules and advise. Don't come and threaten because you will come sort when the time is right.

Right, never imagined it would get this out-of-hand.

As some of you already know, I prefished on the Sunday with my buddy, Vaughn. He had planned it a good couple weeks before he knew the KBT was going to be moved there and was going to fish it regardless. He had a wedding to attend to on the day of the KBT so he's fine. I got an invite from him the day before. I was over the moon. Excited that I could finally fish this great dam that everyone had been talking about. I was so focussed on just having a good time and catching fish. I didn't at all have the intention of actually going just to prefish.

I knew the KBT was the following weekend but that was in the back of my mind as I just wanted to have a jol. After having a great day on the water, Vaughn wants to show everyone his new PB on social media. I can't blame him. He was so stoked to catch that fish and was so excited to share the good news. We both never knew that this mudfight was about to ensue.

I came across a post about the prefish. I knew we were allowed to fish it as the rules stated cut-off was sunday, midnight preceeding the event. I definitely did not take into account that it would be unfair as others probably won't be able to get access too. I only realised after I read that post that it was pretty unfair, but, most guys who have contacted me have said that, if anyone else had gotten the invite, they'd have probably done the exact same thing I did. I do agree with that. If you got an invite like I did, and refused it, then you are definitely a better man than I am.

What I'm trying to say is that I never intended to prefish, just wanted to catch fish. I guess I did prefish anyway without actually realizing I was. Apologies for all this banter that's been caused. I didn't think that it'd be this bad that I would be sitting in the school hall, writing a Chemistry final, and start thinking about what's happening on the site...

I apologize for all this. Next time I have the opportunity to prefish a venue and no one else might have access, I won't go, simple as that. And, I am willing to give the prize money I won, back, if that makes you guys happy. Just so there's peace and fairness.

Well Bomb,that wooden spoon of yours certainly stirred the pot.In answer to your original prefish question,it had very obvious positive results...which is, after all,a good reason to spend that time and money to prefish for an event. And would I have done it too...I would have been there in a flash ! It is the way a more competitive angler approaches this sport.
Water under the bridge and with this knowledge in the memory bank,those concerned will have a better idea of how to handle cut off to such "closed" venues.
JM,I see NO reason to have to apologise for anything,even if you went to prefish the venue for the upcoming KBT,you were within your rights to do so and no KBT rules were violated and you had legal access to the dam.The money you won is yours to keep. What I would do though,is forget about all this crap that is flying around...in fact,do not even switch on to BFSA to read any forum comments until exams are done...Focus.

Well said Smurf and my point exactly. Take a lesson from it, blame nobody and use it as constructive info to make the kbt better and fair for all. JM think of it as a contribution to the sport from an innocent mistake and concentrate on exams.

Yes, my question did stir the pot and make for very entertaining reading . . . . and from reading between the lines, I deduce that there is an under current that needs to be addressed by the powers that be.
It’s lonely at the top and one person cannot run the whole KBT show – he will go crazy and the whole thing will come crashing down and everyone looses out.
Brenden hit the nail on the head – a democratically elected executive committee must be put in place to organize events . . . and also to field queries and discrepancies. The job is too big for one person – and anyway, that is bordering on a dictatorship, which I’m sure, is not the intention.
Bottom line - People just want to fish and enjoy the sport.

If last weekend's comp was held at Whitehall no one would have given a sh..t if it was prefished 10 minutes before the comp started.

Jeez what a big whoo haa over a general concern which in the end boils down to fairness in the sport. If you can't see that then you should not be fishing competitively.

I respect JM for coming clean and well done to the PB and 2nd place. Nobody is suggesting giving the money back or anything. It was well fished and a well placed second.

As JFZ said we only want to make sure that pre fishing does not happen at a venue that is off limits to the majority of the field. So this something we MUST look into as a rule addition.
