Smallmouth near Cape Town

Hi Guys Im in Cape Town for 10 days with the GF and really keen to catch some Smallmouth Bass as we are not as blessed with them in KZN.

Girlfriend and I are able to fish this Sunday 17 May and Friday to Sunday next weekend and brought my Famous inflatable down to give me more options.

Think I will do Mofam on Sunday and Clan or Bulshoek for the weekend but would really appreciate your input bearing in mind I am after Small Mouth and preferably lots of them (realise its not the best time of year).

If any of you are kind enough to include us on a trip to some private dam full of starving bronzies or share the location of some awesome water it would be greatly appreciated (the pictures of all you WC dudes with giant bronzies makes me so jealous). Otherwise any general info and advice on say Clan vs Buls, and how Mofam is fishing to make sure we dont waste our time anywhere would be great. Would also love to chat to someone knowledgeable on WC waters if you can PM me a contact number, might end up being of assistance if you ever in KZN.

Hey Shaun.

No smallies in Mofam but a great venue. If you find trees you will find bass. Texas rig work best or jigs. I would say do clan for smallies. Would definitely be worth the drive. Not sure what the water level is like at the moment but i was there 3 weeks ago and got a bunch around the 1.6kg mark.

Hi Shaun
I see you are bringing a boat with you.Has it got a trolling (sneaker in Natal) motor ? You must book a boat at Mofam if you want to fish there as they do not allow you to use your own boats.

Hi Sdog, Mofam is slow ( 10 fish all day there last Sunday ), Bulshoek also slow due to lower water level. Fish the rocky banks at Clan. Give me a shout and we can chat 08three 988 4onezero6
