New Ownership: BFSA

Howzit Guys.

I recently took ownership of BFSA so I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

My name is Andrew De Jager. Some of you might know me as Andy. I am 28 years old and was born in Cape Town. I married the lady of my dreams in 2013 and we are expecting our first born on Thursday. Exciting times!! My Wife (Helen) and I left Cape Town (in 2013) to come work on a small Island known as Cyprus.

I'm a very passionate angler with a unique love for experiencing new types of angling and I'm dedicated to improving my own skills in our growing sport. I'm also a self confessed tackle junky.

Fishing has been apart of our family for many years and I've been lucky enough to experience exceptional times and have made fantastic memories with my family and friends.

I think my best memories come from fishing as a junior where I was privilege to represent the Western Division Junior Team (7 times) and the SA Protea side (twice). In 2003, I was named Junior International Angler of the year and also captained the Junior Protea team in a test against Zimbabwe in 2004.

The reason I acquired BFSA is because something like this has been a life long dream of mine. I hope to bring positive fishing vibes and excitement to BFSA. I respect what Shane has accomplished for BFSA and hope to do my best to expand it in the future. I'm very excited for this opportunity and look forward to meeting and chatting with the members of BFSA.

Hi Andy, again, and welcome. Quite a few posts have gone to "neverland" in the last 24 hrs and same as the last DB problem some time back. I for one am reluctant to build on threads until we can get some assurance that this matter is once and for all rectified. Would be great if you could look into this matter for us? Thanks boet and congrats on acquiring the best bass fishing site and forum in SA.

Hi Riprap,

Thank you for the welcome and very happy to be a part of this.

Over the last 48 hours, we have moved servers to a new data centre.

The main reason for the move was to strengthen our security and get a firmer grasp on the hosting stability.

Due to this move, we made a complete backup on the 7th and the switch happened on the 8th.

Part of this, is that BFSA has been built on a custom platform, and there were a few paths which needed to be corrected. This was the reason why some posts have gone missing or for instance the sidebar was confusing the post id's and linking to the wrong posts.

This has all been sorted out.

You have my guarantee and assurance that the forum is 100% stable and functioning 100% from this morning at 8am.

Apologies to all of our contributors who may have lost a post or thread.

Got some more work to do on the island. It sux!! But sacrifices must be made.
