I 've been fishing for a while with the Gamakatsu Skip Gap hooks and it is the best patent for plastics since the invention of ice cream. No more slippage of plastic and thus no tumbling of lure to cause coiling of line.Tests I've done in the pool show that after a few casts the platic lure moves on the hook, thus changing the shape from straight to slightly curly and then causing the lure to wind thru the water.The angler obviously cannot see this unless the water is crystal clear.The skip gap hook eliminates this.If anybody wants to discuss this in detail my e-mail <!-- e --><a href="mailto:cvbe@chevron.com">cvbe@chevron.com</a><!-- e -->.

I was put of the gama hooks sometime ago due to sharp edges on the eye cutting my line. Since I have been using owner and hyabusa. The Hyabusa come in a matt black finish which I think is great and owner have a great invention all of thier own I have posted a pic, these work like a dream.

Pomerob,Yes I did use,and sometimes still do, the hooks u are referring to. However I still managed to loosen the plastcs especially flukes, even the stopper entered the plastic when pulled thru grass.I think the owner hooks with the barb is a good idea and if it works for for u then ok.I find the gamma skip gap works better for me.Again i must stress the fact that i do not buy hooks,reels etc if made in Korea ,China ,Malaysia etc.
All my gamakatsu hooks are made in Japan because i order from there.If u read the package (hooks) it says "Made in Japan".If u read my pagkage it says "Hooks made in Japan'. Get it?

I get it ;-) I still have the packet of hooks that had the sharp edges that were cutting my line, I must check to see where they were made.

Are you bringing in these hooks for yourself or for resale??

I only bring in for my own use, but with my next order I will get a couple of extra packets(normal and skip gap), because freight will be the same.

Those hooks look great! I most definitely want to try them. Are they available here at all? I can't say I have seen them anywhere but maybe I was not looking properly...

bm I have seen them in a couple of tackle shops this side, but I dont know where they were made.

Yip both styles are available locally as well… I have tried them both but I must confess I didn’t like either of them and they certainly didn’t work for me… maybe I didn’t use them properly or something but they are no longer in my tackle box… the standard EWG is my hook of choice.
