Just been for my first line wetting in about 30 years at Homestead dam in Benoni.
I've got a 5" scarborough, same as I used to spin for shad in the old days in KZN. Coupled with a 7' power tip rod & a 33gram lure I could only get it out about 20m. As Bass fishing is going to be my sport, I'll probably have to get hold of a proper set up. I'm thinking of using the same rod but with a fairly decent ground bait reel.(Not really interested in coffee grinder). Any suggestions & also what will be a fair price to pay for a reasonable reel ? I intend to do mainly bank fishing & will probably buy an 8' rod for the KP, which I can also use when at the coast.

howzit man, mia's benoni has a special on a quantum Q48 and reel for about 700 bucks, i have the predecessor of the Q48 the Q36 and its a awesome rod for the price only about 350 now use to be 250 and it cast and sets the hook perfectly, looking to buy the Q48 myself in mh if they have for cranking and top water baits.

White is probably an Abu Garcia combo.
