Ok, it seems that people are judging my actions without knowing the full details or both sides of the story. Which I find very unfair but can be expected.

I do not condone protest or have I ever declined anyone the opportunity to voice their opinion or views and never will. Defamation of character is a whole different ball game and can not be tolerated by myself or anyone else for that matter and is not welcome on BFSA. I will also not publish all the gory details as it is between John and myself and not the entire website. Dafron, you are correct, personal scuffles are not welcome and that is why the post was removed, the post was not the final reason he was banned anyway.

I can not and do not expect everyone to understand but I do appreciate that you are being honest about your feelings.

VX70 you should know better than that? The site always has up and down days, you have been a member for long enough to know... And there has been loads of postings over the past 2 days?

John shared loads of information that is a given, but you guys are slapping the other members in the face by thinking and saying that he was the only one who contributes to this website. This website is it's members and will not die out because of one loss.

Sorry guys, no vote, this is my decision and it is final.

PS: BigB please do not think that I do not accept the fact that people disagree and if anyone says something I do not agree with that is fine. The problem was a lot deeper than a disagreement. I did try and sort it out with John but he carried on, I buried the hatchet and he took it further. Enough said.

Unfortunately I missed the 'argument', pity because sometimes a heated exchange can be great fun to watch and even participate in, it's what makes a forum like this so interesting. I agree that personal attacks are in bad taste, but as a great man once said, "if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen".

Despite all that I'm sure that the forums will continue to grow and prosper despite the absense of one person, new members are signing up all the time, come on guys and girls where are you, why so quiet?

Geezzz, talk about a can of worms.

I missed the ping-pong posts between Fishton and BM, but I have a fair idea what it was about. I think both parties had fair ground on which to argue, but it should have been kept offline as it was a personal matter not one for public forums.
Fishton was banned for 1 month as a slap on the wrist to keep his personal attacks in place, but knowing BM and the rest of the clan he probably would have been allowed back on in 2 weeks time - that was my bet anyway.

But instead of leaving it at that, he took it one step further and opened a group on Facebook called "BFSA - Big Fat Stupid Anglers" and although it sounds funny it can definately be taken as being insulting to all participants on the site to say the least.
Never mind the fact that it is potentially damaging to the site.

We will definately miss Fishtons postings as he had a huge amount of valuable information for all of us and he kept the site busy with his constant bantering.
But there are rules to the site in the interest of keeping it clean, educational and fun for all. In this situation I think BM was forced into a decision where he had no choice but to take action.

As Vaalboy said, I think it has gone too far for either party to put pride and beliefs aside to correct this.

Clearly it isnt, as from the comments above it is clear how the members feel.

I had an incident with a fellow member about a year or so back, it was very personal, no one got banned then, we just had to pretend the other didn't exist.

Sorry still very torn in 2 directions about this incident, not sure I can be to enthusiastic about a site that bans my friends, who's next??

Yes there have been a few instances of this type of thing happening. I think I know who you mean but as I have mentioned in the past, I have made mistakes and I can not change the past. If people do not abide with the rules and what the BFSA community stands for then I must take action.

Who is next? Anyone who oversteps the boundaries, and you know I take a lot of flack and let quite a bit slide but from now on I can not make the same mistakes otherwise things will get out of hand.

I hope you understand.

Running a website like this is not easy and I am learning as time goes by. :blue-confused:

Guys, just a call to remain calm here.

Not knowing the facts makes it difficult for "non-involved" members to decide who's wrong and who's right here. But then again nobody was asked to make a judgement anyway!

Yes, I regard both Fishton and BM as good friends of mine. Funny thing is I never met either of them, yet we had some pleasant interactions on this site. A site that is subject to some rules just like our country is subject to certain rules (whether they are applied consistantly or not).

This brings me to my next point. If your friend brakes the law and goes to jail, he still remains your friend! His sentence does not prohibit you from being his friend. I don't think that BM ever asked anybody not to be friends with Fishton anymore? I for one still has his e-mail address and will continue to interact with him regardless.

This whole issue reminds me of a herd of elephant mulling around a fallen comrade. Although the loss is sad, the bond amongst the remaining members still is very strong!

A request please: we all agree that the issue should not have been splashed all over "our" website because it was between 2 members, let's then stay out of it because it does not really involve us.

Lastly, the site is NOT so quiet now, it was much quieter when all you f#$%@rs were on tour!!! :blue-biggrin:

I dont post often unless i have something constructive to say and there are reasons for this.I dont get involved in politics or personal feuds as i have learnt my lessons the hard way.But i am gonna say my bit, and all of you can take it the way you want it doesnt really bother me what so ever. I have nothing to loose.

First of all i am shocked at the response that some of the mambers have posted when they dont even have the slightest idea of what really happened.

The second thing is how well do we really know each other to make assumptions, how do you know if a member is realy such a great person by the postings he makes or just spending a few fishing hours with him on any tour.Can one really establish a persons true nature in the time you chat to him or the few hours you spend with him on the water? I dont think so ! We all judge others on what we say and how they act and lets be honest the wool can be pulled over your eyes in a flash.

Thirdly, when it comes to competitive bass fishing and lets be honest? the caring and sharing flys out of the window it is human nature to be competitive and why would one wanna share anything if there are such big prizes at stake.We have to remember one thing you might be a nice person? and the next guy might look nice thats only because he has already pulled the wool over your eyes and has a whole bag of hidden agendas.If you want go through life thinking each and every person is nice,i suggest you catch a wake up and remove the wool.

If we look at the big picture this would have never happened if these comps did not get so competitive its all about the prizes and if things dont go according to plan or a mistake gats made then a persons true colours come out,where is the caring and sharing now?????

To put it plain and simple i am GATVOL!!!! are we bassfisherman or politicians and some of our members realy have to grow up because you are acting like babys.

This is not a personal attack on anyone but i also say if the shoe fits put it on.

This will be my last post under this topic.

I want to point out a few things...

BFSA is my passion, for the past 5 years for 15 hrs a day I have made sure that everyone has fun and enjoys being part of this community, which I am sure everyone has. It is a success because of the members and my hard work.

Previously we have had issues on the website, I never ban anyone and I was a jerk for not doing it and people complained. I let sleeping dogs lie. Then It happens again and I finally put my foot down and ban a repeat offender and people complain?? What do you people actually want, make up your minds?! If it was someone else would it have been ok???

I must just also point out that the prize was just a small part of what went wrong and at no stage did we not say we would not make a plan to compensate Connor. What people also fail to realise is that instead of a fish finder being in the bag there was a Spike It Colour Selector valued at R1200, plus he got a fishing rod, plus, plus ,plus. Rob also deposited the cash for the fish finder into Johns account. I will leave it there... you read between the lines.

I can't keep everyone happy all the time. If you don't like it, I'm sorry to say to bad.

Thank you to the people who are supporting me. It is appreciated and I will continue to make BFSA the best bass fishing website in South Africa!

Roy I have to disagree… you were not at the tour (and we missed you Boet) but there was indeed a huge amount of caring and sharing on this last tour despite the fact that there were a lot of prizes... I must admit I was a bit worried about that… but there was more caring and sharing than ever before which I was really heart warmed about… and in fact if there wasn’t caring and sharing I would have struggled on the Saturday! Thanks again Bryan!
