So the Badisa/outdoors 365 charity event has come and gone. Thanks to all who attended and because of you guys and Sarah we managed to raise R7000 for Badisa.

Thanks to all the sponsors Ol Big mouth,Suburban tackle, outdoors365,Phillips,Monarch travel goods,Pietman and JFZ for his donation of a Flip in a glider etc etc for the day which was won by Rory in a lucky draw.

Thanks to Oom Phillip and his wife for providing the venue,coffee and rusks in the morning and boerie rolls,beer and cool drinks in the arvie. Shot also to Ball Hugo and Danny Blom for doing the braaing etc for all of us. It was very lekker.

Unfortunately we forgot to invite the smallies to the party besides the few that gate crashed. Something was clearly up with the fish with there being far fewer fish caught than expected but then again thats fishing and thats what keeps us coming back for more. There were a few fish caught however, with top dog Angus being man of the match with his pig of a smallie which is also his new PB clocking in at 1.82kgs. Well done Angus it was awesome to watch you fighting the fish and seeing the excitement in your face. Verner also got a 1.7kg model to prove that there was more than just the one goon swimming around in the dam. Most of the other fish that were caught and weighed in were between 400 and 700 grams with the odd slightly bigger one thrown in the mix. Although the fishing was a little tough we couldnt complain about the weather and the company. Im sure most if not all of us had a jol yesterday.

Great fish and like Billy said, it was great watching him land it . . . . with a few heart stopping moments. :blue-shock: (Angus - get a longer handle on that net of yours)

Why was the fishing so difficult on Saturday? - Note the ripple on the water today - compared to the "glass" yesterday.
I know some people prayed for good weather but Saturday was just a bit too good. :eusa_doh:

Thanks to everyone involved,this was a very well organised event.The money raised also shows how succesful it was.Gongrats to Angus,well deserved.Overall it was a very nice day.Had to leave after prizegiving,but would like to fish this dam again,as my total fish for the day was zero.Big thanks to oom Phillip for letting this event happen.Jaco.

Decided to make a weekend of it and shot through on Friday midday only to be met by a rather stiff wind which saw us NOT being able to launch a boat at TWK. We instead fished a nearby farm dam with not much success other than 1 confused bass caught by Jadi.

Saturday morning I dropped a decent fish very early and that pretty much summed up the day. 2 models under 1kg was enough to clinch 7th. Well done to Angus, I was very close by when that fish almost removed him from his tube! Lekker bru!

As luck goes....my fourth or fifth cast after the comp landed a decent keeper. The topwater popper action was rediculous with a few good fish landed....

Sunday morning we hit the dam before first light and like Bombasstic said, it was a different kettle ( or dam in this case ) of fish....again my topwater poppers did the trick and resulted in some of the most exciting topwater takes I've experienced! I hit record on the vid cam and proceeded to land 2 beauties in the space of 4 minutes. Maybe someone could help me upload the video!?

What an honour and privelage to finally fish this beautiful dam!

Anyway, an hour or so later the wind got out of hand and the storm kicked in VERY quickly. Overall a great weekend, a great comp for charity with a great turnout. Thanks to Billy, Brendan, Pietman, Badisa, all sponsors and competitors for making it a memorable event....I have a feeling this just might be added to the annual calender....what you think mmmm?

Thanks to all the organisers for another amazing event. Its awesome that we could support the charity while having a blast on an awesome dam.

Me, Ferdi and Rory camped at TWK for the weekend. We fished a private dam on Friday afternoon for 30 minutes or so with Billy. I caught a small one and made all the oaks mombakkies . We then went back to camp and prepared for the event, talked some tactics and showed each other our tackle boxes.

Next day was the comp. It started off with clear skies but within an hour the mist covered the whole dam. I could not see any other angler and Ferdi was like 30m away form me. What a beautiful scenery! Fishing was tough, only action I had during the morning was during the "mist period" where I lost the same fish twice. She chased my spinnerbait and I could see it as the water was crystal clear and banged it with her head the first time. I reeled up and casted again and saw her chasing it, I then stopped reeling and let it sink so that she could catch up and it was on! Fought her for about 10 seconds until i could see her shake her head under water and I lost her on my Venom Glimmer spinnerbait. I felt pretty bad since I felt I did everything right and Ferdi already had bag! I had some bites on my zman mojo rigged "stink vis" but nothing took.

The day went on and rods were dropped and dived out (haha justice) and as we were moving to the dam wall just after Ferdi's rod was retrieved I caught my fish of the day on Venom Spinnerbait. It was quite deep and I casted away from the wall. I did not expect top 10 as I only had one decentish fish and was really stoked that I received some prizes!

We then fished the dam after the comp and I caught a nice fish under a kilo on top water rapala x rap. Sunday we went back again and I caught my biggest fish of the weekend also on topwater rapala xrap far from the edge! What a fight!

As for my day, Caught one early of .590g and another about 2 hours later of +- .300g. Had a few nibbles along the way to.
