i went fishing at the berg river dam to see if the rumors of smallies was true but didnt catch anything in the hour i fished there, but did take some pics and the dam was very low so it showed alot of the structure and it was hectic, this dam had flooded timber, rock drop offs, old buildings, pipelines, and all the old dew dale dams where flooded so creates lots of old roads and ridges. will post some photos.

i was literally frothing :blue-biggrin:

I've heard there are smallies in there and there must be because before the dam was built there were smallies in the river where the dam was built, I've caught trout in the river above the dam and a friend of mines dad has stocked the dam with 9000 trout before,

There is a sign there that says no fishing and no boats but no one ever goes up there

Hahaha agreed, this weekend I'm going to head up there and fish for the day and see if I catch anything, if there are smallies or even largies in there the fishing will be insane. If you want to get to the dam best you go from the franschoek side just turn right from town onto the monument road and about 500 meters down there will be a turn off to the right and just follow that road and it will take you to a easy accessible area, the spot where the dew dale dams used to be.

The water level there is very low.
