Looking at fish finders at the moment and have whittled my options down to the 2 below.


- Garmin ECHOMAP™ Plus 92sv - with GT52HW-TM Transducer
- Lowrance ELITE 9 TI² (3-IN-1 ACTIVE IMAGING) with 3-in-1 Transducer

Pricing wise they are similar and feature wise they are similar.

Any guidance on which one is better taking into consideration image quality, feature quality(i.e which one has better side scan or better down scan imaging) and MAPPING ''quality and options''

Any guidance and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Been looking for the Shimano SLX rod in a 7ft MH Fast action.
All dealers only have this config in an Extra Fast action.Not sure why the fast action isnt available locally?
With Shimano rods in general is the Fast action a bit slow hence Normark only bring in the Extra Fast action?
Also if i got the Extra fast acion how would it limit my bass fishing over getting the non available Fast action?

Hi all,new to the forum but joined it because I'm in desperate need of some help.
I will be emigrating to the UK next year but before I leave I want to catch a smallmouth,it's been on my bucket list ever since I first saw pictures of them in the American bass magazine's when I was younger. I have attempted to phone the local fishing shops around the areas here in Cape Town and have had no luck,the most I got from them was go to clan William.But I am a bank basher so taking on a bigger dam like that would be a gamble hence why I'm looking for smaller dams or river systems that hold smallies.Can anyone help with suggestions of smaller dams and or river systems in the western cape are where I might have a bit of luck?

I think the word newbie is even too advanced for me, I've been fishing a few times but caught my first fish exactly a week today and now I'm hooked (excuse the pun). I quite enjoy bass fishing though and would like to do it more often but money is a little tight so I want to start with some cheap equipment until I maybe have some extra cash to buy better stuff.

So 3 questions:
1. I know this is asked multiple times on the forum but maybe someone has discovered a new spot they're willing to share. I live in Brackenfell and I am looking for good bass fishing spots near brackenfell if anyone has suggestions. I was very sad to find out today that Fisher Haven just off Bottelary road no longer allows fishing, because that would have been perfect. 

2. If I have a very limited number of lures, say 4 different ones at first, what would you suggest I get first or what works best? 

3. If you have some extra rods or lures or fishing gear at home you're not using but don't want an arm and a leg for, please PM me with the gear and how much you want for it so that I can start fishing soon :

If you have any other tips or tricks or favorite places to buy gear, you can send that to me too please.

I see our esteemed owners have decided to sell BFSA - well thats what they have advertised on farcebook yesterday - promoting the likes of the value of advertising, the past history etc. Oh, you get a free online tackle store if you make the purchase too...

It amazes me that they still did not reply to the previous thread I started concerning them, nor have they even bothered to notify here that the site is up for sale.

I wonder if the 12 remaining members of this site will be willing to club in together and purchase the site from the owners? 

I'm sure between us we can scrape together R3 for the site? Are you guys all in for 0.25c? I'm willing to make soft loans to an additional 3 people and will club in R1 on my ace.

Its a genuine question: Why are you more active on farcebook than you are on your own forum? 

This site has, over the many years, seen its own self demise since the initial site was hacked a few years ago. This lead to the opening of many other social media outlets that have so far exceeded the popularity this site ever was. 
But I struggle to fathom why the owners are more active on those sites than they are on this particular one. 

Personally, I dont see the need to keep this site active anymore anyway. The only people that post are spammers, who get a warm welcome from me, then get dumped by Nav or Rip. 

So why keep it open then? If its to harbour the various bits of info, tips and tricks then why dont you just upload the details to a patch in the cloud and link it to your farcebook site?
